First Amen helps you pause for Christian prayer before using selected apps. This policy explains what stays on your device, what is sent when you use online features, and how to delete your information. Contact us at admin@janusworks.dev.
What stays on your device
Your protected-app selections, prayer schedules, personal prayer history, Bible highlights and notes, setup answers, companion progress and interface preferences are stored locally. Your selected app names and package identifiers are not sent to our analytics or prayer services. The app does not request advertising identifiers or access your contacts, microphone, precise location, messages or passwords in other apps.
Accessibility and app protection
With your permission, Android Accessibility access checks which app is open so First Amen can show a prayer screen for the apps you select. The display-over-other-apps permission lets that screen appear over the selected app. The service does not read screen text, messages or passwords, and foreground-app detection data stays on your device. You can turn off either permission in Android Settings. App protection needs both permissions to work. Emergency unlock remains available without payment.
Screen Time on iOS
With your permission, First Amen uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings and Device Activity frameworks to shield the apps you choose. Apple’s private picker supplies opaque app tokens, which remain in a local App Group shared with First Amen’s extensions. First Amen does not receive a list of your installed apps or read their content. Screen Time access can be revoked in iOS Settings. Individual authorization does not prevent uninstalling First Amen. Emergency unlock remains free.
Personalized prayers
If you request an AI-generated prayer, the chosen mood, relationship category, language and optional gender are sent securely to our Firebase service and our AI service provider, S2, to generate the response. These inputs can reveal religious or personal interests. You can use the built-in prayers offline instead. Generated prayer text is returned to your device; the personal history you keep is local. If you report a prayer, its text and language are sent to our team for safety review. Reports are private; their text is never sent to analytics. Public prayer requests and their AI responses are part of the community content described below. AI output may be inaccurate and is not professional advice.
Community and support
A community account uses a handle, display name and password; passwords are stored as salted hashes. Profile information, optional profile photos, posts, prayer requests, replies, reactions and chat messages are stored on our Firebase backend. Content you post to the community is visible to other members; an anonymous post hides your public identity but remains associated with your account for moderation and deletion. Do not share information you want to keep private.
Your support conversations are private to you and our authorized team. They may include the name and messages you choose to send and can be deleted on request. A support conversation has its own access token and is separate from a community account. We use account and support information to provide these features, respond to requests, prevent abuse and moderate content.
Usage and crash information
The iOS app has no usage analytics or Crashlytics collector configured. On Android, when usage analytics is enabled, Google Analytics for Firebase receives feature-use events, viewed screens, timing, permission status, language, device/app information and a pseudonymous app-instance identifier. Analytics excludes prayer text, Bible notes, messages, names, questionnaire answers and the identities of your selected apps. Turn usage analytics off in First Amen Settings. We do not use advertising identifiers or personalized ads.
On Android, Firebase Crashlytics processes crash reports, stack traces, device/app details and a crash-installation identifier to diagnose faults. Our services also process technical request information, including IP addresses, for delivery, security and abuse prevention. We do not sell personal data.
Payments and subscriptions
Google Play on Android and the App Store on iOS process payments. We do not receive your full card details. RevenueCat processes a pseudonymous customer identifier, purchase records and subscription status to verify access and restore purchases. If analytics is enabled, the Firebase app-instance identifier links subscription lifecycle events to analytics. One app with unlimited prayer pauses is free; subscriptions add protection for more apps. Account deletion does not cancel a store subscription.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you remove it using the app’s controls, device storage controls or uninstalling the app. Community account data and content remain while your account exists. Deleting the account removes its profile, photo, posts, replies, chat, reactions, sessions and related account records from the active service. You can delete individual content without deleting the account. Support threads are separate. Contact admin@janusworks.dev to request deletion; we verify ownership before acting.
Analytics event and user data have a 14-month retention setting; aggregated reports and provider-managed billing or diagnostic records may follow different retention requirements. Apple, Google Play and RevenueCat may retain transaction records for billing, fraud prevention and legal obligations. Contact us for data-access or deletion requests that are not covered by the app controls; we verify identity before acting. Limited records may be retained when legally required or necessary to resolve a security or billing issue.
Delete your community account on the web, or open Community → your profile → Delete account in the app. The web form works without installing First Amen. It explains which data is removed and which records are separate.
Security and service providers
Network requests use HTTPS. Community access uses expiring account tokens and server-side authorization; passwords are hashed, and direct database access from the app is blocked. Authorized service providers include Google/Firebase, RevenueCat and S2. Processing may occur outside your country. No storage or transmission system is completely secure.
Children and changes
First Amen is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. We update this policy when the app or its data practices change and publish the effective date here.
